Substance abuse in South Africa is extremely common and is rapidly becoming the established norm among our young people. In our country, alcohol and drug use can be experimental, recreational or dependent. It is the dependence developed on alcohol and drugs that is becoming an issue in our society.

At The Clarion Development Agency, we sincerely believe that educating about drugs must start at home with family members and friends. This invariably presents a rare opportunity to discover more about the various types of drugs and their individual and social impact. It is also an opportunity to talk about the risks associated with drug use and ways to minimise harm from drugs, and to establish attitudes and boundaries in relation to drug use.

It is our recommendation that parents begin to discuss drugs with children at an early age. An environment in which young people feel confident to discuss alcohol and drugs with their parents is a significant step in the fight against substance abuse.

We are the Helping Hands of God for these Children

These children get to experience the love of God only through people like you and I. Unless we share that Love, in the spirit of Ubuntu with them, their hopes for a better today and a brighter tomorrow will be nothing but a dream.

Insure A Child’s Future. Give it Some Love, the Ubuntu Way.
