A child without parental attachment runs the risk of growing up without his cultural identity, something necessary to his mental health and wellbeing. It is strongly believed that a strong sense of cultural history and tradition helps children build a positive cultural identity for themselves, gives them a sense of belonging and self-esteem and supports their overall wellbeing.

Marcus Garvey argues that "A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without its roots." Children with a strong sense of identity, are better placed to connect socially with others and develop a sense of belonging to their community, even if the community's cultures are different to their family culture.

It is important for children to switch between cultures with ease and confidence, something this program seeks to achieve. It will then reduce the likelihood of depression and anxiety in a more natural way.
